What to Expect During Your First Appointment

To help us provide a smooth and comprehensive first visit, please prepare the following:

  • With your permission, we will request your most recent radiographs from your referring or previous dentist. If your x-rays are outdated (older than one year), Dr. Saqqal may recommend updated radiographs, which can conveniently be taken during your appointment.
  • A detailed medical and dental history, including any allergies and a list of all medications (both prescription and over-the-counter) you are currently taking.
  • If you have dental insurance, please bring your insurance card or any relevant forms to your appointment. We accept a variety of insurance plans, including:
    • Aetna PPO & DHMO
    • Ameritas
    • Anthem
    • BCBS/Carefirst
    • Cigna
    • Delta Dental
    • DentaQuest
    • GEHA Only
    • Humana
    • Metlife
    • Principal
    • United Concordia PPO
    • United Concordia Tricare
    • United Healthcare
    • Zelis

Important: Patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the consultation.

If you have any medical conditions or concerns that may affect your care—such as artificial heart valves, joint replacements that require pre-medication, or unmanaged diabetes or hypertension—please inform our office before your first exam.

What Happens During Your Visit

During your appointment, we’ll complete a thorough evaluation, which includes:

  • A comprehensive review of your medical and dental history.
  • An in-depth examination to assess jaw and dental bone health, check for loose teeth, evaluate your bite, and screen for oral cancer.
  • An assessment of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and evaluation for any signs of periodontal disease.

Our goal is to give you a clear understanding of your oral health and deliver personalized care tailored to your needs.
